Thinking About the Outcome in the Process
Thinking About the Process in the Process Outcome
Creative drama is, by its very nature, evaluated as a process. Within creative drama processes, there are various types of results/products called enactments, which contain dramatic situations. The processes experienced provide opportunities for development within themselves and must include the transformation of the situation being addressed. When looking at the outcome/product, it can be considered that it has a relationship with what came before it, that it is not independent of what came before; it should be accepted as a productive result of certain causes. The dramatic situations addressed within the process, along with all other activities, appear as a product/outcome in the enactments. It can be said that the dramatic situations determine the preceding, even the cause, of the outcome/product here. The reenactments, which can be seen as products, transform into collective production, in other words, a collective creative subject, through the processing of the participants’ individual experiences and accumulated knowledge. When looking at art forms, it can be said that in the artistic creation process, the product (the work) generally coincides with a single creative subject. From the perspective of the artist (creative subject), it can be seen that the creation of the product (the work) is based on a process. The source, reasons, etc. of the product (work) can be related to the scope of the artistic creation process. Both the process and the product created at the end of the process are related to the artist’s personal production and personal creation. This workshop is based on the art/art education dimension of creative drama within the framework of the above explanations. Using six works from the field of plastic arts, the process-product relationship will be addressed by employing the various possibilities of creative drama. Starting from a single creative subject that coincides with the work, the starting point of the process, dramatic situations constructed through collective creation will be presented in the context of the product. Each product brought to life will form the beginning of the next process, creating a process-product cycle. Based on the work of plastic arts, the products (performances, exhibitions) created through collective production will be used to discuss the art/art education dimension of creative drama in the context of the process-product cycle.
