Elisabeth Ebert is an improviser, a theatre pedagogue and a director – and, at least chronologically, in that order specifically. Improvisational theatre was the bridge that took her from the audience onto the stage. Instantly in love with improv’s immediacy, she never looked back. By now she has more than 10 years of improv experience under her belt.
In order to pass on her passion for collective storytelling, she trained as a theatre pedagogue with the LAG Spiel and Theater NRW e.V. from 2017 – 2020. As such she works regularly for theatres, schools and other institutions, giving workshops and leading larger projects. For the LAG she also takes on representational work such as organising events that further the connection between schools and theatres. Twice she also represented the BAG on the jury for the German children’s theatre festival.
This combination of pedagogy and improvisation shapes Elisabeth’s directorial approach, too. She is always curious about the relationship between stage and audience. She seeks to investigate power dynamics and strives to create communality through art. Directing experience she gathered with the English Drama Group at Bielefeld University which she has led for five years while studying British and American studies.
